Maddak Dressing Stick (738810001)
The Dressing Stick is essential for anyone who has difficulty bending, a limited range of movement, or the use of only one arm or hand. A plastic coated combination hook/pusher assists in putting on shirts and jackets, pulling up slacks or skirts, or removing socks. The small hook on the opposite end aids in pulling
CHEAP CONSTRUCTION! I just had my second spine surgery. Before my first spine surgery, the hospital where I had the operation required a mandatory training class on day to day living techniques following spine surgery, during this class, we were given the option to purchase a “kit” that contained, among other items, a dressing stick similar to this one. I put that first stick through more than a year of hard use. It worked extremely well and I had no problems at all until recently when the plastic coating began to wear off and the tip began to bend when I used it. Which brings me to the Ableware Dressing Stick. The FIRST TIME I used it, the tip bent all the way over against the handle just removing a PAIR OF SOCKS!! This product, I am very sorry to say, is completely worthless. I hope that others that have purchased this product have had better luck with it. Because based on my experience, I would have to recommend that anyone in need of this type of tool would refrain from purchasing this…
Simple Dressing Stick I ordered one of these for myself to help me with dressing after back surgery. It is an excellent tool very helpful for someone who cannot bend over. It is much easier to manipulate for dressing and assisting than a “gripper” tool, that you have to squeeze to grasp objects (that tool is very helpful for other tasks.) It was so helpful that I ordered a second one for my friend who also had back surgery. When she got hers, she was very happy with this tool. At first glance, the odd shape of the hooks doesn’t make sense but after getting it, and practicing, the design is clear. One hook for pulling, the other for pushing and then a simple closed hook for “snagging” things. My occupational therapist (OT) says that this tool is one of the better designed dressing sticks that she had seen. It is NOT designed for moving heavy things around, but it is not fragile.
extra sturdy pole make it useful for other things. Great sturdy dressing stick that I’ve taken to use for other things. Because it is so sturdy with a thick strong wooden pole, it works great for putting a hanging flower basket up on a high hook as well as hanging things on a high rod in the closet or helping make a bed that is up against a wall. As a dressing stick it works fine as well. I like it better than the previous one I bought because the hooks at both ends are plastic coated so don’t snag anything.
